YOUR Questions Answered: January 2018
Health insurance can be pretty darn tricky. And so, not so surprisingly, our team gets some great questions from you folks each week.
Long story short, we figured many of you would benefit from seeing the answers to the most common questions we get. So that’s what we’re doing in this post.
We work hard to make health insurance easy, but if you get confused by some of the terminology, check out our glossary of terms here.
We’ll do this Q and A at the end of each month from here on out. And if there’s a question you have that we didn’t answer here, give us a call at: 800-475-8466.
How do I find a new doctor with Friday Health Plans?
Please visit our provider search page here. We’ve got a strong network of great docs all over Colorado.
Remember, you MUST use a doctor in the Friday health network, otherwise you won’t be covered.
What should I do if I have a medical emergency? If I go to a hospital that’s out of network, will I be responsible for the full cost?
If you have a true medical emergency, go to the closest hospital STAT (regardless of whether the hospital is in-network or not).
Serious or life-threatening injuries and illnesses that require immediate attention are emergencies. Sore throats and extreme paper cuts are not.
Your insurance will cover this visit if it’s a medical emergency, but you may need to pay your portion of the bill to meet your deductible depending on which plan you have, and how much you’ve used your plan this year.
How do I know how much a drug will cost on my plan?
- Individual plans
- Bronze (non-HSA), Silver, and Gold offer free generic drugs. Click here for a complete list of the free generic drugs.
- Value Choice 100 and Bronze HSA require you pay for your drugs until you hit your deductible. After that, they are $0.
- Group plans
- Generic drugs range from $0-$15 on the Bronze (non-HSA), Silver, and Gold group plans.
- Value Choice 100 and Bronze HSA require you pay for your drugs until you hit your deductible. Then they are $0.
ACA preventive drugs are free on all Friday plans. You can find those here.
If you take non-generic drugs, ask your doctor if there’s a generic alternative. You can find brand tiers and pricing here.
Are tests included in the co-pay (fixed fee) at my doctor’s visit?
If you see a doctor in the Friday network, you’ll be required to pay your plan’s co-pay, or the flat fee. In some cases it’s free.
However, any diagnostic test that is performed would be an additional expense. Which means if you’re at your free wellness exam and your doctor orders additional tests, you’d need to pay for those tests if you haven’t met your deductible yet.
As always, ask your doctor if there will be an extra cost before a test is performed. And please give our customer service team a call with any questions: 800-475-8466
My individual health plan includes three free doctor visits: Is the annual wellness exam one of those three visits?
You have three free doctor visits AND an annual wellness exam (for a total of four free visits)
I haven’t received my insurance card yet. When can I expect it?
You should receive your insurance ID and pharmacy cards within 10 days of making your first payment. If you think you should have received your cards by now, please call us at 800-475-8466
