Healthcare options for common health issues (not COVID19)
As we continue to navigate life during COVID-19, it’s important to know your options for seeking treatment for ongoing medical conditions and knowing where to turn if you have health concerns other than COVID-19. Most doctor’s offices and hospitals have recently started scheduling non-emergency procedures and appointments again.
Over the past few months, the number of those seeking care at emergency rooms across the country has dropped significantly. In some areas, they are down 50%, but are people not having medical emergencies? Doctors across the country believe people are avoiding getting care altogether in fear of getting sick, but delaying care for health issues could make you much sicker. Gulp.
Not sure what to do if you need to seek care for more common health issues? Here are the options you have as a Friday member.
Talk to your primary care doctor
If you need to speak with someone about a nonurgent medical issue, try your primary care doctor first. Many doctors are now providing care by phone or through video. Worried about having to go doctor’s office for further examination? Ask them what precautions they are taking to protect their staff and patients before you go.
Many Friday plans include 3 free visits with a primary care provider
If you or your little ones have an upcoming doctor’s appointment, reach out to your doctor first before you cancel it and get advice on the next steps. Skipping vaccinations and routine checkups for children can be risky and can cause significant problems.
Don’t have a primary care doctor? Find one near you through our Friday provider search.
